The Brief
Roisin and Saskia wanted to completely transform a tired courtyard garden following their home extension. The existing paving and planting had become dated and cluttered, and they wanted a contemporary outdoor space that felt connected to the house. Their priorities were creating somewhere comfortable to sit and entertain family and friends, introducing low-maintenance planting, and bringing a greater sense of order and cohesion to the garden.
Our Approach
Our design centred on creating a seamless transition between the newly extended interior and the garden beyond. Large-format paving, integrated seating and structured planting were used to establish a strong indoor-outdoor connection, creating a space that feels like a natural continuation of the home.
Alongside the visual transformation, careful attention was paid to the technical detailing around the new extension. Existing drainage channels were refined and integrated into the paving layout, while bespoke steps were designed to accommodate air brick ventilation requirements beneath the threshold. Every element was considered to create a cleaner, more contemporary garden that complements the architecture and high-design interior of the house while remaining practical and easy to maintain.
More From This Project
We’re really pleased with the work Ed and his team carried out. They were friendly, respectful and easy to deal with throughout. The design process was collaborative, everything was completed on time and total costs were reasonable and as quoted. Overall we’re really happy with the end result and would happily recommend.
