Garden Design
Considered, design-led gardens for homes across Brighton, Hove and Sussex.
A garden is planned well before the first plant goes in..
Brunswick Landscapes combines garden design and landscaping with a strong focus on proportion, materials and layout. Every project is approached individually, balancing practical use with a clean, cohesive aesthetic. We work on projects ranging from compact courtyard gardens to larger family spaces across Brighton, Hove and Sussex.
01 - Step One
Consultation
The first step is an initial site visit where we can explore your garden, discuss how you would like to use your space, and understand your vision for the project. We’ll talk through your ideas, preferred style, practical requirements, budget and anticipated timescale.
Following our consultation we will prepare a tailored design proposal outlining our fees. Once approved, we’ll arrange a more detailed site survey to gather the information needed to begin the design process.
02 - Step Two
The Design
With a clear understanding of your vision, we begin developing the design concept for your garden. Initial ideas are explored through sketches and layout studies before being refined into detailed, scaled CAD plans and then brought to life as a photorealistic 3D visualisation.
Final plans, levels, materials and construction details are all prepared before the construction begins.
03 - Step Three
Planting Plan
Planting plays a vital role in bringing a garden to life. Building on the design developed in the previous phase, we can create a planting scheme that combines colour, texture, structure and seasonal interest to ensure your garden remains beautiful throughout the year

The process
Six weeks, give or take
A typical design runs around six weeks. Some schemes are quicker; more complex sites take longer. We would rather add a round than push a scheme you are only nearly happy with.

Recent designs
As soon as we met Ed from Brunswick Landscapes, we knew we wanted to work with him. We’d recently moved into a new-build property, and the garden consisted of a small, inadequate patio and some turf. Ed was friendly, knowledgeable, and really took the time to understand what we were hoping to achieve. He fine tuned our ideas and made the whole process feel easy and stress-free. His communication was excellent, everything ran to schedule, and the quality of the work by Ed and his team is outstanding. Our garden has been completely transformed, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. We highly recommend Brunswick Landscapes.

Common questions
Things clients often ask
How long does the design process take?
A typical garden design takes 3–6 weeks from initial consultation to final approved drawings. Larger or more complex projects may take longer. Ed keeps you informed at every stage.
How much does a garden design cost?
Design fees are project-specific and depend on garden size and complexity. Ed will provide a clear fixed fee after the initial consultation — no hourly billing, no surprises. Most clients find the design fee is comfortably offset by the efficiency it brings to the build.
Do I need to use Brunswick Landscapes for the build?
Not at all. You're welcome to take the design to another contractor. However, most clients choose to have us handle the full build — it ensures the finished garden matches the design intent exactly.
What do the 3D visuals look like?
Ed creates photorealistic 3D renders using professional CAD software. You'll see your garden from multiple angles, with accurate planting, materials and lighting — so you know precisely what to expect.
Can you work with an existing garden layout?
Absolutely. Many projects involve reimagining an existing space rather than starting from scratch. Ed will assess what's worth keeping and what can be transformed.
How many design revisions are included?
The fee covers meaningful revision rounds at concept and detailed-design stages — typically enough to reach a scheme you're genuinely happy with. Ed would rather take an extra round than push a design you're lukewarm about.
Do you design planting for established gardens?
Yes. Planting-only schemes are a regular part of our work — whether you're refreshing tired borders, adding year-round structure, or wanting a considered planting palette to work around existing hard landscaping.
